Double Square Gallery is proud to announce a group exhibition Fruit, Flower, Object and Others. The exhibition will open on March 10th and run until April 7th. A collection of 10 artists, featuring Sunil Gawde (India), Lee Chu-Hsin, Song Sheau-Ming, Liao Chien-Chung, Chung Soon-Long, Chou Chu-Wang, Huang Po-Chih, Izumi Akiyama (Japan), Lee Chi-Hsiang, and Yu Siuan, the exhibition presents a diverse showcase of works which includes paintings, drawings, photography, new media art, and different forms of installations. The exhibition constitutes a dialog which concedes realism works of art, creating a poetic conversation towards the artists’ exquisite life experiences.

The birth of art could be dated back to ancient times with ways to document life and human existence. Traditional realism in regards to the classical ancient Greek art, set the fundamentals for expansions within art today, no matter it’s origin of Eastern or Western art. Throughout time, artists have built on top of the constitutional elements of what we used to know as fine art with the insert of contemporary ideology. This new wave results in artists formulating their own perspective and subjective to create new techniques within the field of two dimensional art and sculpture works. Moreover, the subjectivity of art shifts alongside generations of newly developed ways of its creation, giving art a modish definition of aesthetics on beauty. These work of art invites us to pause our present moment and freshly breathe in what we commonly have taken for granted in our everyday lives.

The journey in which artists take to capture their subject-matter preaches the spirit and ideologies of the contemporary, with the end goal to address the quality and importance in life as a whole. Lee Chu-Hsin who specializes with creating symbols hidden under constructive themes; implicates a greater belief, which Lee wishes to achieve, through paintings of red drapery composing the shape of boats sailing into the far and beyond. Song Sheau-Ming uses paper tape as subject to create works of art which covers both abstraction and realism, informing his audience the parish of an exterior. The brushwork by Chou Chu-Wang, reaches a state which could be described as a meditation. Principles of life and health could be discovered written on the cobblestones Chou paints. Paintings by Lee Chi-Hsiang proposed visual dynamics created with stained glass windows as subject, which generates narratives beyond a two-dimensional image; in doing so, Lee captures the memories from the contemporary generation. A great wave of fluidity could be seen in Izumi Akiyama’s drawings, achieving immediate distant to reality. Akiyama works captures the dualistic nature of her subject, as she genuinely depicts them with honestly.

In a time where it is easy to be overwhelmed by media and the speed of digital developments, contemporary artists have adopted to the various ways upon creating works of art. Exploring the re-established, deconstructing and reconstruct with modern taste of palate and language; artists are continuously putting together the art of their era. Liao Chien-Chung’s exquisite use of woodwork simulates everyday seen machineries, such as cars and trucks, into his own vivid but yet surreal depictions. Liao’s works are playful but yet creates narratives for viewers to analyze. Works by Yu Siuan displays the perfect combination of contemporary sculpture powered by machineries. Furthermore, giving two dimensional paintings a body to rest in. Indian artist Sunil Gawde is well known for his style of contemporary sculptures and installations. By use of seemingly typical glass cups, Gawde creates slight shifts of movements within the installation for his audience to take notice. Chung Shun-Lung’s photography offers a different approach towards recreating time, giving viewers a sense of inception throughout eternity. Huang Po-Chih focuses on exploring the dynamics created by scans of dazzling flowers, using overlaps of digital media with movement to manufacture classical chroma, presenting new media art at its finest.
The exhibition Fruit, Flower, Object and Others displays a collection of artists’ approach towards realism at its best. Bringing the unseen to light, referencing works from the classical to the upmost stage of contemporary. Uncovering every aspect of the artists’ observance and knowledge on a greater entity.
