Artist Su Hui-Yu and Cheng Hsien-Yu's "Revenge Scenes" will participate in the Art Direction program of 2022 International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR)
For their performance in Theater Rotterdam, Su Hui-Yu and Cheng Hsien-Yu tap into the genre of 'black movies': Taiwanese cult films from the 1970s and 1980s in which oppressed women seize power and get their revenge on men. These exploitation films could be read as a feminist manifesto and were a way to express resistance to the martial-law regime in Taiwan, where they were quickly banned.
