Shyu Ruey-Shiann, (b. 1966) was born in Taipei, Taiwan, launched his kinetic art series in 1997, and has worked with the medium in art making. To the artist, mechanical movement is an absolutely precise language in the abstract form. Such abstract language can even convey a living philosophy that transcends the visual image of a work. Utilizing mechanical elements as a creative medium and to explore the profound meaning of life, the artist infuses the energy of life into components produced with precision and the rhythm produced by repetitive mechanical movement. In his opinion, the creation of a work is not only an extension of his personal feelings about life but also a vivid expression of the life force permeating every element of the work.
