Double Square Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the 2024 Art Taipei, presenting our exhibition at Booth E09 in the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. The event will take place from October 25 (Friday) to October 28 (Monday), 2024. This exhibition features six distinguished artists: Cynthia Sah, Nicolas Bertoux, Chu Teh-I, Huang Hai-Hsin, Yen Yu-Ting, and Fu Ning, showcasing an impressive array of paintings and sculptures. Anchored by the thematic concept “Resonance: Form and Visions,” the exhibition explores the intricate interplay between form and imagery, as well as the artists' reflections on contemporary issues.

Cynthia Sah breathes life into marble, imbuing it with graceful, meditative rhythms that reveal a unique inner vitality. Her seamless yet warm flowing lines embody minimalist aesthetics, while the subtle variations in texture reflect the serenity and balance inherent in Eastern philosophical thought.

Nicolas Bertoux, drawing from his extensive experience in architectural design and public art, infuses his creations with a profound understanding of the symbiotic relationship between space and environment. Through rational and logical thinking, he explores a diverse range of forms and structures, emphasizing the rich three-dimensional spatial imagery present in his works.

Chu Teh-I’s works, shaped by his personal experiences and the confluence of Eastern and Western cultures, embody both the speculative rigor of Western geometric abstraction and the cultural richness of Chinese ink painting. His mastery of color and the textured layering within his paintings are fully realized in this body of work.

Huang Hai-Hsin draws inspiration from everyday life, employing humorously satirical compositions that evoke news photographs and bold, sincere lines. Her keen observations vividly portray the survival narratives of various ordinary individuals, revealing subtle, neurotic, and absurd moments within the intricate tapestry of societal, political, and familial relationships.

Yen Yu-Ting has chosen "wrinkle strokes" (皴法) as the central theme of her recent works. Through a meticulous process of collection and imitation, she skillfully weaves together personal experiences and imaginative insights to develop a metaphorical language that engages with the complex political landscape and diverse human rights issues of contemporary society, all while remaining rooted in the rich tradition of ink painting.

Fu Ning concentrates on the lived experiences of others, collecting mundane and fragmented visuals as primary materials to explore how individuals navigate and shape their identities in today’s digital age. Using vivid, intense colors and bold, dynamic brushstrokes, she captures the fragmentation resulting from information overload, depicting fleeting moments as images merge and flow through the act of viewing.
