Double Square Gallery’s Six-Year Journey in Retrospect and New Editorial Website
Since the establishment in Dazhi, Taipei in 2015, Double Square Gallery is now celebrating the sixth anniversary. Upholding the goal of “comparing and contrasting ‘both sides’ to express diverse meanings,” the gallery has consistently contemplated on the contemporary possibility of art galleries.
To cope with the escalated impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Double Square Gallery has begun seeking breakthroughs other than that of the physical space by expanding and managing social and communication media. The gallery has endeavored in enhancing the publicness of the gallery’s resources through establishing and reinforcing its digital database.
With the gallery’s newly produced image video as a point of departure, audiovisual data including artist interviews and exhibition records have also been created; meanwhile, the artist catalogues continually published by the gallery in the past six years are made digitally available for art enthusiasts to browse freely online. In June 2021, a fresh topic-based website named “Editorial” has been launched based on the gallery’s official website, which gathers essays and articles about the gallery’s exhibitions written by art scholars and professionals.
Double Square Gallery has always believed in the infinite ideas and possibilities between different sides within the artistic spectrum. The hope to serve as a new and multifunctional exhibition site informed by the qualities of an art museum, alternative space and art gallery and persistently bring new imaginations of an art gallery has been and will always be the power that keeps us going.
